THE LAWSAN SECRETARIAT

The LAWSAN Secretariat is the central administrative department of the LAWSAN Government. It is the unit responsible for maintaining all records of the government in accordance with the LAWSAN Constitution and other enabling laws of LAWSAN. Although the LAWSAN Secretariat has been upgraded to operate digitally, the physical Secretariat is right in the Faculty of Law building Annex Campus, University of Uyo.

The LAWSAN Secretariat is created under Section 25 of the LAWSAN Constitution 2012. It is headed by the Secretary General of LAWSAN, who is otherwise refers to as the scribe or life wire of the Association. The Secretary General of LAWSAN is assisted by the Assistant Secretary General in the discharge of his official duties. The Sec Gen of LAWSAN must be an elected member of the Executive Council from the Law School class; (viz; a final year LLB student). The Secretary General of LAWSAN must possess a good CGPA, a students with unquestionable character, record keeping ability and good writing skills inter-alia.

The Secretary General, under the LAWSAN Constitution is responsible for the following; be in charge of the LAWSAN Secretariat, convene all Executive meetings and General Congresses, keep all records and make annual reports of the government and presents same to the LAWSAN House of Assembly.

The Secretariat is digitally equipped for administrative convenience. Mails can be sent and received through emails like lawsanuniuyo@gmail.com. Trainings and orientations of support staff for the Secretariat are also done in regular basis. Chatting, posting, teleconferencing and videoconferencing are as used as modes of communication within the LAWSAN Community, courtesy of the LAWSAN Secretariat. 

The LAWSAN Secretariat is currently headed by Joshua Emmanuel for the 2021/2022 academic session.
